VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL TRACES OF PLANES The traces of a plane are the intersections it makes with the vertical and horizontal planes, or if the plane is not in contact with them, the lines it would make if it were extended towards the two planes (see figures 154, 155). Given the traces of a plane it is possible to develop its inclination to the vertical plane and also to the horizontal plane. Figure 154 shows the traces of a plane.
